Applications for Emu Oil Burns When applied to burns, emu oil provides the most obvious and immediate benefits. Those who have suffered first, second and minor third degree burns will find regular application of emu oil will greatly reduce the pain, swelling, and reduce overall healing time of burns. Especially effective on sunburn. If applied immediately, it usually prevents the development of blisters. If applied after blistering has occurred, the blisters usually will drain internally and the skin will reattach. The dead, burnt tissue will shed sooner and fresh, new usually scar free skin will appear. The combination of emu oil's anti-inflammatory effect and its ability to speed skin growth are responsible for these effects. Numerous studies have been conducted investigating emu oil's value in the treatment of burns.
