Applications for Emu Oil Keratosis Pilaris Keratosis Pilaris is a genetic condition caused by an overproduction of keratin in the skin cells. As the sebum reaches the surface it hardens into an almost pimple like hard mass. This is typically found on backs of upper arms, hips, buttocks, and thighs. Cleanse skin with a mild liquid cleanser, exfoliate with alpha hydroxy acids only. Do not use mechanical scrubs containing abrasives such as sea salt, ground up shell particles etc. or even loofah sponges as they are too irritating for sensitive skin. Then apply Emu Oil at least twice daily to help skin retain it's smooth texture.
